So who pushes it through the traffic and what's your experiences.
Plodding into colchester Thursday a chap went down the middle of the que along the avenue of remembrance. Too risky I though ? But its also dam tight to scoot up the outside too. |

![]() Why ride a bike if you are going to sit in traffic like a car - a car would be more comfortable... Once you get used to it, having built up to it at your own pace and learned to judge it for yourself (never just follow someone else) then its second nature. Even when doing it at triple figure speeds on your private replica of the M3 just before it crosses the M25 while "following" an R6. Or so I am told. I find it helps to imagine you are Luke Skywalker in an X-wing trying to drop a torpedo into a Death Star exhaust port and the cars are the walls of the trench ![]()

I did it today infact. Sometimes its very tight and u need to get a wiggle on with the bars to fit through some of the gaps (bar end mirrors) but its good fun
![]() As SK says, go at your own pace and don't follow anyone. Some people are complete tw*ts and nutters when it comes to filtering. Just start by doing a car or two at a time until you become happy with it. If ever in doubt, stay put. |

you dont need to go fast.. just keep making progress when the other cars are stationary or slow.

I regularly ride a pushbike in traffic and the feeling of vulnerability is greater I use this feeling to keep myself in check when on the motorbike.
Like the others say take it nice and easy and keep a close eye on each and every car's movements near you for any hints of imminent lane changes etc.... |

we dont get any really bad traffic up here even in our so called rush-hour so filtering is not an option,it sounds fun though

Avenue of Remembrance my love? That road is designed for bikers. It's wide and clear with the bike lane clearly and helpfully marked with cross hatched white lines all the way! My favourite way out of my favourite town

I filter on the M77 every day into work in Glasgow. Limit is 50mph so I tend to sit at 30 all the way in. Once you get used to the route you start to know which parts people change lane at so you're prepared for it.
I filter all the time now. Didn't used to as I thought it was cheeky, but now I don't give a monkeys as they'll never catch me to let me know they're offended! |
