Default help choosing leather jacket

hey guys. i currently have an alpinestars textile jacket and am about to purchase a leather jacket for additional protection etc. but as this is my first leather jacket i dont really know what to look for in one?!

what should the thickness of the leather be? does it make a difference? how tight should it fit? does leather loosen over time?

i am currently looking at a number at a number of alpinestars and richa leather jackets but a few of them have the race hump? is this a pointless / retarded looking extra for just a road bike? what other brands would you recommend?

here is what i am currently looking at:

Alpinestars GP-2

Alpinestars MX-1

Richa Vista

any help appreicated!

Buy a good quality one, with elbow, shoulder & back protection, the ones you've shown will be fine

You couldn't go far wrong in buying this jacket, although you don't say what what size you're looking for.

Its on Ebay now, PM the seller

thanks for the reply. what about the race hump that some leather jackets now have as standard? what is your opinion on jackets with this for road bikes? is it a bit OTT for the road?

and sorry the size would be around 58 / 60 EU, 48 / 50 US.

Personally I wouldn't bother, its more of a style thing.

But if you want one, then that's up to you.

A race hump isn't to help as much as a back protector

Well i personally dont really like the look of a race hump for use on a road bike. But it just so happens that most of the jackets i like have them! and i wudnt be using it for any sort of protection as i have a knox aegis.

So do i buy a jacket thats ok without a hump or a jacket i like with a hump?!

SV Talk? Hmmmm... not for long.

To answer one of your questions that doesnt seem to have been answered yet: Yes, you want to get a tight fit, it will loosen over time. not uncomfortably tight though obviously.

I like the Richa but would probably go for a Wolf jacket or Arlen Ness, kanagaroo leather is good but not if you sweat a lot, race humps are for aerodynamics so are a little wasted on road bikes but do offer a little back protection although I would strongly advise using a back protector as I know plenty of people that say a back protector is the only piece of equipment that saved their lives, so buy a forcefield back protector wear when trying on jackets.

i like the look of the wolf titanium jacket but there aint nobody round where i live could order it in for me. i wanna try before i buy and any of the above jackets can be ordered in in my local honda dealer with no obligation to buy. i also wouldnt be using the hump for back protection as i have a knox aegis. just so happens that a lot of the jackets im looking at have the "hump". just dont know if i could stick the look of them on a road bike.

i did consider the scott leathers. saw there stand at a bike show last march. but looked into them and they seem to be getting a lot of bad reviews lately so decided to stay away!
