Yes, the SV700 is now a 750 after Steve Jordan put a long stroke crank in it!
But the starter motor (unsurprisingly) has a bit of trouble turning the engine over. ![]() The bike is a K9 and the standard starter motor part number is 31100-19F00-000 - probably made by either Mitsubishi or Denso. Anyone know of a HD part that will fit? Thanks. |

Oh, and by HD I meant Heavy Duty not Harley Davidson!

You could try more volts in the stock one. I know some lads used to race minis would feed the starter 24v. Should be easily doable, though not sure about the durability

Would a SV1000 starter not fit, or would that need changes to the starter clutch also?
Just thinking aloud.

looks about double the length from the pics on flea bay.
VX800 looks too short (and stupidly expensive) 24v probs be the best idea short term, if it doesn't blow the starter. Could be worth asking Steve Jordan what he does with the big bore motors on the built bikes

Some interim measures;
Make sure the insulator around positive post on starter is intact Make sure battery is good .. all connections are firm .. commutator is very nice and clean Possibly shorten starter wires too. Is it race or road?

SV1000 starter is not significantly more powerful - it has exhaust decompressors to aid starting.

There's a pin with a flat on one side on the exhaust cam, a small weighted arm pivots the pin. When at rest the round side of the pin just grazes across the exhaust bucket and lifts it a dab, once the engine is revolving above a given speed, (I've never measured it but a hundred or so rpm seems sensible), the arm centrifuges out a few mm and turns the pin such that the flat is toward the bucket and thus does not lift the valve.
