I was berating a couple of traffic wardens for slapping parking tickets on bikes in a parking bay in London today. The parking sign had a "parking suspended" notice on it, but the notice was too small for anyone to have noticed it.
Anyway I spotted these on a curvy SV there. At first I thought one of the devices was a Klictronic gear change of some type but I couldn't see any gear change aid buttons on the handlebars. Haven't a clue about the 2nd larger cylinder behind the footpeg? I'm sure someone knows, I'm curious and green, what are they? ![]() ![]() |

Isn't it on the wrong side for a gear changer anyway? The cylinder could be an adjustable damper

Thats an after market brake fluid reservoir, and (as DJFridge said) the adjustable section for the rear shock (maybe an Ohlins by the colour scheme, but no clue honestly

Yes for sure, so the guy has moved the rear break reservoir to make room for the gold cylinder.
There's the standard shock still in place and this gold cylinder with the tube. Anyone know what it's for, I'm genuinely intrigued, what is it and how does it work? Cheers |

Why do you say it is the standard shock?
I would have said that it was the remote fluid resevoir for an aftermarket shock, in a voice that made it sound like I know what im talking about. |

I only say that because I know no better. I really haven't got a clue. I know how change wheels, plugs, sprockets fuses, bulbs and chains and anything that bolts on I can undo and do up. Other than that I'm green but keen.

Mystery solved thanks, but, out of interest how does the gold cylinder (remote reservoir), work with the shock absorber, what does it do and how does it make an improvements. Cheers.

Rear master cyclinder & footpegs/hanger is not standard either. As the others have said its the remote reservior for the shock, with the damping adjustment etc.
Like SvRich & YC says looks like Ohlins, mucho wonga
