Met Matt from OMC at the Ace Cafe on friday night. He works at a garage where you rent the space to maintain your own bike using their bench and tools etc. £20 an hour. Win.

Nice idea and I hope the fella does well. I couldn't bring myself to pay £20 an hour however but at least I wouldn't dawdle!
If I was local I'd possibly use it for tyre changes. |

Could quickly get very expensive! I guess if you're living in London you may have little choice. What does spannerman charge per hour labour rates? I'm guessing a couple of hours in this place with you head buried in a Haynes manual could soon eat up what he'd charge to do the job.

Depends if you're keen to get the satisfaction of doing certain jobs yourself and for someone like myself who lives in a block of flats with no tools or space, this could be ideal.

![]() I did have a garage and the tools, but a lack of knowledge and confidence were the big issue. Now I do my own basic stuff thanks to what I learned. This is a great place, lots of friendly people in real life, not just people talking behind keyboards. Swing up to Soho some Friday night, or head to Guildford when they meet and seriously consider coming along to the AR in August, there is almost certainly going to be a group riding up from the Ace Cafe on the Friday morning.

Soho meet pretty regularly, an excuse to go play in the London traffic. TBH you'll get to know a small bunch of people at a regular local meet, much better than you will at the AR.

yeah I read about this, good luck to him enterprising idea although as Dave says a knowledgeable friend will probably be better if you're learning and if you know how you probably have the tools yourself.
Cheers Mark.
