Thumbs up Newbie member

Hi guys and girls,

I'm new to the forum and soon to be new to a K3 SV650S and really looking forward to it.

A little bit about myself: I'm 17 years old, at sixthform and have a part time job stacking shelves in a supermarket. Hoping to go into management next year and will be splashing the cash on my bike.

I've been reading a fair bit about changing the R/R on these bikes but as i'm a bit of a newb to the site I havent worked out how to search efficiently and I cannot find anywhere an real reason as to why these need to be changed. Why is the standard R/R not up for the job? Could you simply reposition it so the water doesn't get to it?

I've seen a few threads on how to change it and the job seems simple enough, just pointless at the moment.

Thanks for any help !!

Welcome to the madhouse - I'm in a similar situation, just about to leave sixth form, (oh yay how I love A levels), 'cept I have a curvy which is just better.

on the Reg/Rec issue...I'd personally say wait until it comes acropper to replace it. Might not need it, if it does, then change it, if it doesn't, yay. Could reposition it, but that'd involve moving other bits and bobs.

(And to search, just go to the top, hit 'search' then hit 'advanced search' to be specific)

Ahaha, thankyou - I'm doing AS and it's a pile of bull. Got U grades in my physics and maths modules... it's why i'm doing management next year !! ahahaa. The sharpy just looks better

I thought that myself but I heard that if the R/R goes it can take the whole dash with it... and then things get ridiculously expensive considering you could fix it already. One bonus with my bike is that it's done just 7,000 miles in 8 years so it's deffinately a fair weather bike hopefully meaning the R/R will be fine for some time yet.

I found the search but it was pretty poor, looked at the advanced and thought it would just take me to google search cause of it saying "google". Only been a member for half hour, i'll learn !!
