Who has a Giulietta

I remember a thread a while ago about someone buying a Giulietta, but I can't find it.

Anyone remember who brought it?

If it's you:-
What engine did you have;
Which version did you go for;
Do you like it;
Does it do the mpg the literature says.

Any other good/bad points?

Looking to change. Other options are Leon (had one before and don't think it's worth the price increase from what I paid 5 years ago), sirocco (sp) possibly.

Not all the same league, but they're the ones I like. Open to other suggestions, but not keen on the A3, golf or 1 series.

All opinions appreciated.

Not got one but had a few as hire cars through work. Think they've all been 1.8(?) diesels. Good handling (felt precise and responsive), loads of grip, although feels snatchy to me as it reaches the edge of adhesion. I suspect that is me not being used to a car that has so many electronic aids built in. Comfortable to drive, couldn't be arsed to work out how to use the trip so can't really say on mpg (plus I caned it). Kept getting the cruise control stick muddled with the indicator but you'd get used to it. Only grumble I had was that had to make sure the revs were at ~1.2k before pulling out of a junction to prevent it bogging. Was suprised that it was possible to drop out the bottom of the power so easily in a modern diesel. Certainly not experienced that with any other cars I've had.
The brand new one I ha (9miles on the clock) was as rough as a badgers ar$e but the others (all ~2000miles) were smoother. Could have been a running in thing or maybe just the way that one was. I liked the difference in the DNA settings.

If you get a free Uma Thurman, go for it

Picked it up in March, and love it. D mode makes a real difference, tightens up brakes, steering, acceleration and suspension. It is a great car to drive (quite a compliment seeing as my last car was an impreza turbo).

I have just come back from a 3750 mile 2 week trip to Italy, including a blat over the Stelvio pass (see my thread in photos) and the car exceeded all my expectations. Stats were as follows:-

Best MPG: Rome to Naples with cruise on at about 70mph - 73MPG

Most miles from 1 tank: 703

Average MPG overall on the trip: 54.8

Total 'driving time' (i.e. engine switched on) - 72 hours

Normal driving around at home I get around 50mpg (mostly short trips) - not as good as the manufacturers claims, however they are under strict EU conditions that bear no relevance to 'normal' driving.

Boot is much bigger than A1, Audi and VW have long delivery dates - Alfa delivery is currently 12-16 weeks depending upon spec. I was lucky and got mine in just 3 weeks.

Good points - very comfortable to drive (I did Venice to Calais in one run, apart from stopping for a kip for a couple of hours), good size boot, great looks, sexy daytime running lamps and rear leds, good sound system, stop start works well, dynamic mode makes me smile

Bad points - none at all so far

I also test drove the 170JTDM - christ-on-a-bike that thing flies, but I could not really justify the additional £30 per month leasing charges.

The 1.4ma gets good reports, and the Cloverleaf is just mental.

You could say that I like it

Mine is a 140 diesel...
