Default Subaru TT lap Record

Subaru US have released this video of the lap record attempt in an Imprezza WRX.

The car looks pedestrian at times compared to the Superstock bikes, especially where the bikes are able to straight line the meanders in the road but the car has to follow them. The 'moment' at the bottom of Bray Hill looked scary from inside the car until you see the helicopter shot, that is scary close to the wall!

I'd love to see them do it in a GT-R Nissan! Saying that, if he had hit something at Bray Hill, the idea of a ton and a half of scooby flying into a garden at 100 is rather scary.

I ran a 2.5 Mondeo for about 18 months - that was indeed pretty quick. Certainly the Newquay to St Austell sales rep race (hotel in Newquay, trade show in St Austell) was a pretty easy win against supposedly faster opposition.

The amazing thing about that TT course record is that it had stood for 21 years. And it was nothing special vehicle-wise, Tony Pond (RIP) did it in a Rover Vitesse!!

Mondeos do handle exceptionally well for a rep racer though, untill the wishbone bushes give up the ghost.

Tony Pond had a much tougher job in one of those old Rover 800's, they were a bloody boat!
