Default clutch problem

I'm away from the bike for a few days so thought I'd get some advice since I cant fettle. I've read some other posts and looked at the lovely exploded diagram.

here's what happened-
I was replacing the front sproket and tied parts 14 to 25 out of the way. They then fell apart (d'oh)

When I put in back together (in a bit of a rush) the clutch is not fully funtional... The lever feels really light and I'm not sure that the push rod is moving through full range.

So I took it back apart and I've left it. The push rod feels like it slides in and out freely. Should it?

Anything else I need to know when I go back to it??

Anyhelp appreciated.
Cheers

On the up side: one tooth down on the front = lots of smiling!
