Wink Creating a curvey naked and more mods

Hi guys, im looking to strip nosecone and bits off my curvy sv and turn it into a naked but clocks etc seem like hens teeth to get hold of!

I was wondering if anyone had managed to fit pointy clocks or clocks off a bandit?

Also has anyone managed to fit a cbr fireblade 5.5 inch rear wheel in the stock swingarm and can i use standard rear brake setup and chain?

Alterations and spacers are easy enough im a machnist jus need a heads up please

Thanks in advance

Cheers dave

Easiest would be to sell that blade wheel and use GSXR 06 onwards one, easier then, just need to machine sprocket carrier and make spacers.

Naked parts are harder to get hold of. You need the loom, switchgears etc to do it right too. If it is K2 they changed a lot of parts so bear that in mind. Unless you want to chop the loom about to make it work

You can use pointy clocks easily for speedometer, there are a couple of circuits you need to make to get the tachometer and fuel light to work though.

Pointy naked clocks are rare too. Dunno about bandit clocks, they a cable speedo?
I use GSXR K1-3 ones, reckon they look alright, nice compact unit, 2 trips, clock, good backlighting, but you need speedo healer.

Early oil boilers are cable drive. The clocks are a little bit more common (says something about their riders?). The later 600 ones are pulse drives.
I think someone has done a bandit clocks conversion on here.

YC's dash does look good, actually suits the curvy.

Cheers for the replys guys, sorry my bikes a 1999 so i think its a sk1? Only had it about a month. Nose cones tatty and i think they look alot better unfaired.

Yorkie_chris im interested in the gsxr clocks idea, how much and where could i get a speedo healer? Any chance you could post a pic ? Wirings not a prob, i handy with a soldering iron

Ive heard a few mentionings of the gsxr swap, i know it uses gsxr sprockets and a 520 chain but im unsure how different this will be to the standard setup and how it will affect gearing?

Andrewsmith i had worried about them all being cable drive but i do like the chrome backs, i know wat you mean there are alot of bandit clocks on ebay!!!

Cheers

Dave

Cheapest i found was here but it is a physically large unit

Maybe some healtech or something would be better, works fine though.

Will try and find pic of clocks, but just search on ebay for gsxr600k1-3 clocks and you will see them. Pretty easy to sort.

Stuck some tape on clock. If you use GSXR1000 version then it is closer to stock and you wouldn't need to.

Rev limiter is integral to ECU, not clocks, so there is no risk of engine damage.

Big Daft Lad used early Bandit clocks on his naked conversion, and was able to use the Bandit speedo drive & cable.

My Dad's got a '96 Bandit I've done some work on. If my memory's correct, the cable drive unit connects to the front wheel and looks pretty much identical to the electronic item on the SV.
