I hate these threads as much as the next person, however I really don't know what to value my SV as being worth.
I wasn't looking to get rid as it's my workhorse daily commuter, track day blaster and leisure time tourer, however thinking about something different right now. So, as well as all the bits listed in my sig, it was a Cat D write off (by choice) when I got knocked off low speed in Manc city centre (thread on here from yonks ago). It was mainly cosmetics, plastics, levers etc, but as it was almost brand new at the time, cost to repair with all new parts was almost too much. I had it wrote off then bought it back and did all the repairs. Everything frame wise was/is still straight. The only other drop was an off at Nobby's hairpin at Anglesey resulting in damaged screen and levers. Thanks to Flymo, we patched it up and I rode it home. Again, that was yonks ago. Bodywork is not immaculate, but probably as you would expect for 33k miles in 3 years. It's had a FSH up to around 20k 'ish and since then, I've done oil changes, lubes, valve clearances, spark plugs and throttle body synchs myself, with receipts/records at what mileages. It's on 33k, has the Gixer front end and as I said, everything in my sig. Looked at BikeTrader and prices are all over the place so I'm thinking somewhere between £2-2,500...what do you peeps think? Some recent'ish pics... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Nobbylad; 28-07-11 at 08:48 PM. |

with the price of bikes at the mo its worth 2500-2750 all day long even with the battle scars. for those that know SV's it the dugz bawz.
the only thing that could make that bike batter would be a comfort kit. |

That's a toughie....the SV is brill for everything I mentioned, commuting, track days, Sunday bimbles with the missus. I just fancy something else, but keep thinking that the SV is more than enough for the road use, doesn't owe me anything, is easy to work on/mod/upgrade and still looks great.
I couldn't get a balls out sportsbike, but don't like the looks of the older sport/tourers either. Not sure and really the first step is gauging what mine might be worth so I can then figure out what I can get if I put some more in the pot. I'll probably end up realising the SV is a keeper. |

think if i was ever going to get another bike it would have to be the speed triple r. its still got the traction of a twin but a lot smoother and you get the trick stuff as standard. only thing that puts me off is the hight of the bleeding things because of this i would still have to spend serious wonga to get it to fit.

Look for around £2000 as a price to sell it to forum members because quite honestly I dont think a stranger will touch it, the Cat D and a new front end suggest it was the front end which got damaged which although we all know its a choice mod those outside that knowlage wont see it that way.
Dont get me wrong its a luberly machine but it doesnt matter that it was Cat D by logical choice when you're looking at it from a selling perspective. I sold my K6 on an 07 plate last year and that was Cat D but properly perfect in every other way but it still remained almost unsellable (5months to sell). Then plus that you've got the high miles financial climate and all that other yada yada. Hence realistically £2000 is what I'd expect for it. (£1600 if it didnt have the GSXR front). |
