I have just finished resetting my CCTs. This is what I did...
Took off seat, raised tank, removed airbox and moved radiator forward. Removed both Spark plugs Removed rear foot rest and brake Removed the cap on both CCTs. Rotated crank until R was visible and lined up. Rotated screw in rear CCT fully, clockwise, then released. Did this a few times. Rotated crank counter clockwise a few times. Rotated crank until F was visible and lined up Rotated front CCT, maybe only half way as I couldn't grip it tight enough without removing Carbs, then released. Did this a few times aswell. Rotated crank counter clockwise a few times Replaced caps on both CCTs Replaced air box Replaced both Spark plugs Replaced rear footrest and brake Replaced radiator and seat. Now heres the worrying bit. It will not start without choke and when it is running it sounds as though its running on 1 cylinder, not sure which one. As soon as I turn choke off it cuts out. Also the rev counter does not work, it all lights up but the needle doesnt move. I would really really appreciate it if someone could come and have a look. I dont want to **** it up even more. Can't afford to. :'( |

Reseat the air box again and make sure both spark plug leads are properly secure.
Check which down pipe is cool to isolate the cylinder. Did you touch the idle adjuster? |

Yep I removed the rear lead and it wouldnt turn over. So its definately the front that isn't firing. I removed the fron tlead and replaced it making sure its on tight, and still nothing.

Could this be because i didn't fully retract the front tensioner?
I'm going to remove the airbox again and make sure nothing is kinked and all plugs and still connected. Hopefully its nothing serious. :'( Im in and out at the moment, checking what people have said on here and checking everything is on properly. I really appreciate the quick replies. Thanks. You knocked low voltage wire to front coil off when you put airbox back on

I sorted it out now, but I think you were spot on YC. After taking airbox off again I saw a little white plug not connected to anything, think the wire was brown and white, not sure as it was too dark outside. Put that back on and it fired up no problems. Only thing is I still have the tapping/ticking noise. I suppose this means it's probably not a sticking CCT. Could be what you said YC with the plate being slitghly lose making the noise.
Apart from a little panick at the end which I now know was a bit over the top. I think it went well. Next job is Carb synch, don't have the sych tool ffor that though so i'll have to wait. Going to get it booked in next April for a full service. (Valve check, carbs, oil and filter, airfilter etc) and have them remove my restrictor while their at it. ![]() Thanks again for all your help and quick reponses. |
