I was a never a fan of the M61 in the Swinton area. It is badly thought out with far too much lane swapping as you get the m61 merging with the a666, it is **** about tit. I just hope it wasn't the usual mumpties trying to swap across 4 lanes that caused this.

I think it was at the bend where the M61 joins the A580 at Wardley industrial estate.

Difficult to imagine a scenario where the environment may have influenced things there. Apart from the again stupid design where a motorway is merging with an A road. and then the onward reduction on that bend in lanes as the motorway then merges with the east lancs. It is as if the planners decided the A roads in the area should be the priority roads.
