Default Time for a change, methinks

I've had it with chain drive bikes. I've just had to spend 5 whole minutes adjusting the chain on my Versys, which means I've spent a total of 20 minutes of my life caring for that bloody chain. I mean, the bike only has 16,800 miles on it, so that's a ridiculous amount of my time spent doing the stupid job.

At this rate of wear it looks like the chain will only last about 50,000 miles so that is it, enough, no more... I'm on the look out for one of those ultra-reliable BMW R series bikes

I blame those people at Scottoiler for this. If it wasn't for them I'd be happily adjusting the chain every week and used to doing the job, therefore not getting annoyed about it now.

I bought a torque wrench just to do the chain on my Tiger. I've only used it once, which I consider good value!

I ain't got a Scott oiler and I've done 7800 miles with no adjustment yet, I just oil my chain every 2-300 miles.

I'm too lazy and the bike does too many miles for me to bother spending the time lubing the chain. Fit an oiler from new to me and check adjustment every now and again with my toe under the chain, adjust when needed. Five minutes spent adjusting every four and a bit thousand miles takes up less time and money than lubing every 300.

I've never cleaned mine, it's never needed it - Scottoil does it for me.
