Default Hello there! :)

Hi all, I've just joined today after becoming the owner of a brand new black sv650s as of sept 30th(I took advantage of Suzuki's great September offer-£1 discount for every 1cc).
I've ridden bikes for 16yrs, I actually traded in my '02 plate Suzuki Bandit 1200 against the sv!
It was recommended by a knowledgable friend who rode an sv650 for a trip abroad, and he couldn't speak highly enough of them.

But being the first ever bike I've bought new came a dilemma. How to run it in. I've basically followed the manual, ie max 5k-ish revs and no full throttle but not babying it either. And no constant cruising. It's now just clocked 200miles and looking good.
Searching the Internet throws up all kinds of contradictory opinions how to run an engine in, it's mind boggling!!!
Anyway, i thought I say hi, and hopefully you'll see me around here often!

Phil

Hello from another Phil

Regardless of all the contradictory stories you read, the manufacturer are the ones who spend the millions on R&D and the ones who provide the warranty so IMO you should follow their advice and nobody elses

Until the doubters show me hardcore evidence to the contrary I'll stick to the official run in procedures.

Oh the luxury of having to run a new bike in, I don't think I'll ever have to worry about that

Lol I wasn't actually looking to buy a new one but Suzuki's offer and a good trade in sealed the deal!
The Bandit was a heavy bike, nearly 50kg heavier, and it spent many hours in bits! Something I'm not looking to be doing with the sv
So far I'm up to 210 miles, it's an experience running a bike in, quite enjoyable being limited to 67mph @5k revs :P and not worrying about the boys in blue.
Thanks for the welcome guys!
