Default A few questions about Indicators on SV650

I ended up getting in a small accident where i dropped my bike, and had the indicator light break off on the left side. The light still functions but has no cover and will need to be fixed. Now I am wondering if it is a better idea to replace the original part and be back to stock look or change the lights to something else now that I have to do something about them anyways.

2007 SV650S FYI.

1. Are LED lights brighter than stock? It is important for me to be seen and not just look good, so if they make it so that I can't be seen as well on the bike I'm not interested. (If some are better than others, do you know which are?)

2. Are stock lights reversible? By that, I mean can a light taken from the right side of a bike be placed on the left side of the bike simply by flipping it over, or do they fit specifically on one side?

1. LED lights have potential (think GS 2 LED indicators) but most cheap indicators that I've seen don't come close to stock bulbs in terms of visibility. Personally I think stock indicators with clear lenses look very good on the SV.

2. Yes, from left to right but not front to back.

IMO stock indicators are hard to beat in the being seen stakes.

It's probably the most cost efficient fix too - £20 or so for a pattern replacement. You CAN get a set of mini-indicators for that price but they will be of the self-dismantling variety.

Response time here is tremendous. Good first impression, thx everyone.

Just got my SV 5 days ago, and will probably be spending more time around here.

I bought some Oxford LED indicators, some Chinese cheap flush fit indicators and some front facing Filament Lamp indicators all of which are fitted to my SV. The Oxford ones are very bright, but still lack the day time visibility of a filament lamp, the flush fit ones are great in the dark, but useless in well lit areas and the front facing ones are bright and easy to see all the time. Wiring this lot up was a nightmare though and making sure that I had the correct rating resistors to run the LED's with filament lamps was a trip down Ohms law memory lane!

A while back I bought some cheap indicators from Halfords for under fifteen pounds, they lasted just under a year and were appallingly badly put together. Lense clips broke off when I had to change a bulb and the reflector rotted out with rust. The original Suzuki ones are large, easily visible, very bright and rather ugly in my view. I wish that I had kept them on Sylvie, they are great on the tail tidy.

That was a great response. Thx Jayne. I'll stick with the originals then.
