This is probably a really stupid question but knowing the knowledge that is the .org i hope someone will give me an answer.
I have an external hard drive with quite a lot of films on it. At the moment i can only watch them when i link up to my laptop. the question i have is is there any way i can set up my laptop with the external hard drive so that it connects via my tv so i can watch the films on a bigger screen? thank you all mighty .orgers

Not certain what you mean, but if it has a HDMI port then dead easy to connect laptop to tv. Otherwise, does the laptop have VGA out and the TB have VGA in? Can do it that way too.

thanks for the reply G but i have no idea what you are going on about. sorry.
i have tried an HDMI but don't have that connection on my ancient laptop basically what i am trying to do is watch the films that are on the external hard drive (EHD). at the moment i can only watch them through my laptop when the EHD is connected and want to be able to link it all up to my tv so i can watch them on a bigger screen hope that makes sense!!

I think you were looking for www.google.com, not forums.sv650.org...
![]() Using said Search Engine I found this.
That will do it. My TV will allow me to plug a USB drive into it directly, so no need for something like this. If you have a PS3 or an XBox, you can probably get it to do this.

I use my external drive linked through into the PS3 You have to change the drive to FAT32 as apposed to NTSC and set up specific files "PICTURE" "VIDEO" "GAMES" but other than that it works fine |

Tell us what make & model of TV you have, and what make & model of laptop you have. Preferably with links to the manuals on each manufacturers websites, and we can then tell you what common interfaces there are between the two that you could use to connect.

I leave the HD linked to my always on desktop machine and just use PS3 Media Server on the PC
