Default DT125R Project

2003 DT125R - in bits

Might swap for a mini moto...

Frame and engine numbers intact. Engine died of oil starvation with a gradual loss of power. Did manage to start again in shed but sounded very rough. Originally intended to strip it down completely and rebuild it as a supermotard. I stripped the bike and started sanding down the frame and swingarm with the intention of coach painting it but never found the time to finish it. It's been stored next to my shed under a tarp for the last year or so. Surface rust now covers both.

Bad bits:
Engine is knackered and will probably need replacing.
Frame and swingarm are rusty from being stored outside. Was recently sanded and was structurally sound.
Milage was about 8000 but that wont matter if you change the engine.
Will obviously need all new consumables, bearings, etc.

Good bits:
Was reliable up until the point I killed it!
Plastics in good nick. 1 scratch on a panel from standing on it while it was on the floor.
New front and rear tyre.
Loads of paperwork
Good cheap project!!

Some bits have been sold, but can all be easily and cheaply replaced from ebay:
Handlebars and front end, Exhaust end can, radiator, rear brake pedal and master cyl, rear axle and shock, pillion pegs, sidestand, kickstart and clocks.

Apart from those bits, it's all there. Not all parts are in the photos, there's boxes and boxes of other bits.

£190 ONO
Pickup only from Hitchin, Herts.

right - price slashed to £80 ONO! You'd get that back on the wheels and plastics alone on ebay.
Just want it gone and moving house soon.

Surely someone wants a practically free learner legal project!?

what kind of go kart project? I'd love to get one ready for my son one day...

Also, might consider swapping for a mini moto or something if anyone's got one of those spare. That'd take less space and sure I could convince the missus it'd be a good idea!

See - this is the problem - I get all these ideas, then need to find space for them!

Its basically a rolling chassis, but I mounted a 5 speed cg125 engine on it, never got round to making the gear and clutch linkages. I've spent over £100 buying bits for it.

I genuinely would be all over this but its a good day to get there and back to collect it. I loved my DT and having one as a project would be bloody brilliant. If you do get close to the move and aint shifted it then ask me again.
