Default Bye Bye Battery

Finally my trusty Yuasa YT12A-BS battery has given up the ghost.

It was born in the middle of Munich on a Europe trip in 2008. Following a quick 10 minute fizzing of acid it was hurredly loaded into the bike and we set off, already behind schedule. Turns out that the old battery was fine all along and the actual fault was the ol' R/R so 3 days later the battery was 100% drained and as the power cut to the instument panel, the bike spluttered to a halt outside of Venice. R/R replaced and trip completed, the battery then went on to survive everyday use in a cold UK winter before being sat in a cold shed for 2 years whilst I lived in Canada. Upon my return I was surprised to find that after a couple of days on the Optimate the top green light came on and the battery was back in business. It has even survived a rather cowboy boost start from a car booster. But now there is no electricity in my bike and the optimate fails to bring the battery back to life, it is finally time for it to be laid to rest.

Basically - I can recommend the Yuasa battery to anyone!

On another note does anyone have a heads-up for good battery offers at the moment?

Cheers,
a1istair.

e-bay is often worth a look. Quite a few sellers include next day delivery.

Try Batteryman/Debbie at MDS (see http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=123313&page=11 for example)

Always gets good references.

R / R = Regulator / Rectifier
I think it's almost a badge of honour to own an SV and have to replace it at some point.

Went with a Yuasa one from ebay in the end.
I love the fizzy part when the acid is added - very exciting!
Now it works a treat. Not been able to use the bike for a few weeks but the new battery started it on Sunday without faltering.

Absolutely recommend Debbie from MDS, amazing service and also when I was sent the wrong battery they let me keep it (it fit another sat nav of mine) and sent the correct one out next day!

I will always use them now.
