hi guys and gals, ive been looking online to buy an OEM air filter for my SK1 650s, some i see are £15 and others are over £40 so im a bit worried that if i go for the cheaper one that it might not actually be an OEM part and just some cheap copy, and obviously i dont want to but the expensive one and get ripped off
![]() and also am i right in thinking that the SK1 filter is a tall doughnut shape and therefore different to the sk4-onwards which is a flat rectangle? thanks for any help, i watched you tube to change the oil and filter but cant seem to find as much info on the air filter, at least not the SK1 anyway.. thanks again ![]() |

Air filter is easy to do, undo the 2 bolts at the head of the tank, use the tank prop to hold it up. i'm unsure how many screws hold the air filter in. Suzuki dealership, or a reputable place that supplies parts-Hein Gericke for instance. |

Suzuki Main dealer
OEM is around £35, I've got a £18 pattern filter and theres not much different in them. If you want to save long term, buy a K&N Filter as they are washable and guaranteed for 100k (i think)

hi all , thanks very much for all the replies much appreciated, il probably go with the cheaper pattern filter (thanks racer i might be in touch soon) as its my first bike and i wont be keeping it for more than a year or 2 so would probably never end up cleaning a k+n, the main reason im changing it is for experience to learn for other bikes i might get in the future, but also i dont think its been changed before so it will be good for the bike...
the thing is is that i took the old one out just now but it wasn't quite as i expected, the actual air filter was in a wire mesh with plastic covers on either end, but the covers seemed to be sealed to the mesh with some sort of glue? i didn't want to force things ,does anyone know what im explaining. if i bought a filter racer would it be the whole unit (i.e. the mesh and the plastic sides aswel) or is it just the filter and i should break the glue holding the old unit togeather.? i hope that makes sense to someone ![]() thanks |

The filters should look like this:
http://www.hiflofiltro.com/fileadmin...ge/hfa3609.jpg There should be no need to break the black end caps, they come as a complete unit and fit straight in. |
