Not having squiddlies of my own I am inclined to spoil my sister's two little lads a bit.
For Christmas 2 year old James got a ride on red motocycle that he has been racing around on trashing the house, and 8 year old Michael got a scooter that he will use to scoot to school on. And today I surprised Michael on his 9th birthday with tickets to see Wicked The Musical and a trip to London as he loves the music from the show. And he had ice cream in the interval and a McFlurry on the way home as these are totally different to each other (or so he says). This brings back memories of the year my grandparents bought me a bike for Chistmas - not a girly pink bike but a proper rufty tufty boy's bike as I was such a tomboy. So what were you most treasured and memorable birthday/Christmas presents when you were a kid?

First proper bike is right up there too. Also, I remember really wanting a garage for my Matchbox cars. The MB one was probably really expensive so my dad spent a lot of late nights building me a multistorey carpark out of ply and hardboard. It was excellent - I can still remember playing with it and that must be over 30 years ago.

The first bike I remember was a trike with a boot... circa 1962.
My first two wheeler, about 1965. My Johnny seven gun, 1964 - awesome. Striker football game, about 1971.

Best xmas present - seeing my then 7 month old daughter for 5 minutes when I was in ICU and just out of a coma. I didn't see her again for another 4 years so I cherished the memory.

As per the OP, I don't have any of my own, but I love spending money on my mates kids.
Best presents when I was a kid was always some space lego! Probably indicative of the geekiness in me. |

I still love Lego. But after my recent heel surgery I was asked how painful my foot was. I've described it each time as 'You know how it feels when you tread on a Lego brick with bare feet - like that!' And every single person has pulled the same face and said things like 'Really, that bad?' or 'Ouch, have you got good pain relief?' which just shows that we have all had that painful experience at some point, it's a special sort of agony and the reason slippers were invented.
