Unhappy Swing-arm brake hose guide fixing?

Hi,
I have a K2 half-faired that I am replacing an old broken rear hugger on.

The bolts holding the old one were corroded and knackered so I had to drill some of them out.

The bolt that shares the swing-arm bolt hole with the rear brake line bracket was particularly tricky and as a result the threaded collar (?) that sits in the swing-arm to receive the bolt fell apart; the top came off and the threaded collar fell into the swing-arm.

In order to fit the new hugger I need to replace this threaded collar as I currently have a large aperture hole with no thread which is too big, and threadless, to screw anything into.

I have attached some pics (of a broken down swing-arm, not mine) to highlight the part I'm talking about.

Does anyone know if the threaded collar is a replaceable part? If so, what is the actual name for it and where am I likely to find one?

I have searched under many different permutations of 'rear swing-arm threaded collar', 'threaded bung', swing-arm frame bolt' etc. but to no avail.

Any help received with gratitude!

It will be part of the swinging arm. Could you use a coarse thread self tapping bolt? ie the type used to fix metal roof cladding sheets?

Possibly, however I don't think there is much thickness to the swing-arm wall for the thread to grip to. I didn't have a proper look yesterday as it was getting mighty chilly but I will check later.

If I can't find a replacement threaded collar or plug then I will have to find a solution like that.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Just a thought, but a household fitting for cavity walls would do the job. There's various different products available.

No its not a replaceable part

But you something like this will do the job, a Rivnut.

Don't know the thread size you need, prob M5 or M4

I guess you could glue it in place if you don't want to buy the special tool

Thanks Maviczap that looks like the ticket! I'll see if my mate has the tool otherwise I may opt for the cavity wall option as TamSV suggested.

Thanks guys, resolved that issue for me in no time. Legends!

ooorrrr just use a rubber well nut like the ones used on fairings. as with all exterior fasteners use a bit of copper grease on the threads.

Thanks Bibio that looks like an even better solution.

Will check the size and order one up today.

Thanks everyone (and to the moderator who changed the thread title to something more sensible). Have to say my first foray into forums has been very rewarding.

Thanks again.
