Hi all,
I recently passed my test ( ![]() The bad news is that this morning she seems to have developed a problem. She keeps revving hard but there is no acceleration. She'll move away in first fine but as soon as I try and open her up there's nothing there, it just creeps up even though it's revving really hard. I'm a complete novice when it comes to motorcycle mechanics and what might be wrong so I'm looking for some help. I'd really appreciate any advice on this one. The bike is a K6 and just clocked 10,000 miles yesterday. She's still under a three month warranty so I could just call the dealer and have him sort it but I'd like to know what the problem is in case it's easily to sort. |

sounds like clutch adjustment, there are numerous threads on how to do it if you do a search.
Cheers Mark.

Hi mveale im not one of the resident 'experts' on here but just wondered was it raining or were you out in the rain when you got bogged down? Mine did this when i got water in the front plug hole as the drain was blocked, fitting a fender extender fixed it, oh and keeping the drain hole clear. hth until the clever ones come along.
![]() +1 on what rictus said.

Revving hard with no drive or acceleration sounds like your clutch slipping.
As Rictus said, your clutch may need adjusting or your clutch has failed completely. |

If its under warranty from the dealer take it straight back there. It sounds like the clutch is slipping,so get the problem logged with the dealer. It may be only adjustment, but they dont normally slip,so it may need a new clutch.

+1 on the straight away. The more you ride it like that (if it turns out to be clutch slip) the more damage it will cause. Clutch is not a wear and tear item so don't let them fob you off that it's not covered by their warranty.

Thanks for the advice everyone, looks like a call back to the dealership tomorrow is in order. Real pain as I was enjoying getting used to the bike a lot !

*But more than once I've seen new clutches duffed in less miles than that.

Makes you wonder if a suitable oil was installed?
