Default Adjusting the pilot screws?

How are people doing this?

I have tried a pilot adjusting tool by laser, i just cant get it in. I have already removed the coolant overflow tank to access the front. I am thinking of just modifying the tool unless anyone else has any ideas.

TY

Good morning.

I have a variety of tools for adjusting pilot mixture screws. The best one by far, is an original Kawasaki one. However, they're not cheap. They tend to last me 3-4 years, & the last one I bought was around £70 I recall.

The SV screws are pretty tricky to get to. Especially on the front carb. I have known people who removed the carbs, adjusted the screw & put the carbs back on. A pain, & not perfect either.

Cheers.

I remove the carbs and adjust them. Time you've messed about trying to get stuff in there etc, you could have removed them and been back on the road again!

If I recall correctly you can lift them off the inlet stubs and turn them enough to adjust the screws without disconnecting everything from the carbs and taking them right off the bike.

First time?
If so take the carbs off, the screws will be seized.

Thanks all.

They have been off, and i've cleaned them, so no problem with seizures. I've reset them to 2.5 turns but its not right low down. For instance when you switch it off and on it idles very low until blipped.

The carbs are from another bike so the screws needed adjusting anyway.

Removing the coolant take gives me access to the front screw.

So there is a kawi tool that works well?
Is highest idle method the best way to go? (Do they do this as shop? or do they use fancy gas analyser?)

I tried a colour tune, its awful, runs like a dog with that in.

Dont mind buying a tool, i can just sell it after Or i might just butcher this tool i bought.

Anyone had success with this

I've been eyeing one up for ages.
I use the highest vacuum method.

Does the idle drop after blipping the throttle? That is more usually rich in mids due to needle too high if so.

If the carbs were from another bike and needed adjusting, there is a chance its been rejetted and or had the needles adjusted? It might be worth checking this before searching elsewhere for the solution.

Nope, it increases the idle some what once blipped. Once the pilots range of influence is exceeded all is perfect.

I should have checked the jets were all standard, i intended too, but forgot. I will check this

Right, cut the bulge off the laser pilot tool. Easy to adjust now.

Got a picture of the tool with the bit you cut off by any chance?
