Default Fitting a K3 cam chain tensioner to a curvy?

I have a K3 tensioner to fit to the front of my curvy. I thought I just unbolted the old one and fitted the new one and then dropped in the spring and tightened the cap? I didn't realise I had to line up things using the timing marks. Is this a simple procedure for this simpleton?
