Default Brake-related questions

Hello super team. A few questions:

1: Will 1st gen (99-02) brake discs fit 2nd gen (K3-K6) models? They look pretty similar. If so, will the fit well? Anybody tried this with positive results?

2: Please recommend me a link to where I can buy cheap, good-quality reliable pads for a 2nd gen bike. There are absolutely bazillions of options online, I don't know which ones are fake/chinese, I don't know what HH or Sinistered means (answers to that too would be grand!). I don't want to buy the cheapest pads for obvious quality reasons, but your experience is needed when defining when cheap-because-its-poor-quality becomes a cheap-because-its-a-bargain. A link to the ones you buy yourselves would be superb!

3: Same as above but for brake fluid. Anywhere that does decent DOT4 besides Halfords, and cheaper?

Merci!

Scratch question 1- I've seen more pics now and noticed the non-single-planar shape of the 1st gen discs..

I on the other hand prefer HH pads as they are more effective, but GG are a bit more forgiving and a little cheaper, so the choice is your really, as to dot 4 fluid it's pretty much the same, I tend to use branded stuff myself, but I've no reason to believe halfords stuff is inferior.

Cheers Mark.

Thank you Rictus! So, I should be ok buying most things labelled DOT4 online?

Would something like this be just as good?:

Yep. Dot 4 is dot 4, even in a yellow bottle.

Google is your friend for the brake pad differences (gg vs hh) but basically gg are more for joe bloggs street riding.

I used to use HH pads on the SV but now use GG ones in the gsxr calipers. There were always stories of HH pads
Wearing discs quicker but I never noticed any major differences in wear between the pad types

Local motor factors will be cheaper than halfrauds by a big margin.

Both pads have upside and downside. HH has better bite. Overall power maybe a bit more too, not that you need it.

Sometimes I've felt HH pads lacking when very cold and wet, like after long motorway stretch or something. GG are consistently the same through these conditions.
