Default Do you get gear change problems?

Then try this & see.
In the manual there is a page 'as a guide' that tells you at what speed to change the gears at. So i was having issues with 1-2nd & at certain times 'clunkiness' up & down. Plenty people have tried chain, back wheel, oil, worm gear, clutch 'fixes'. No doubt it goes without saying these will prevent issues 'mechanically'. For me they still crept in so i thought what the hell as a experiment ill try another thing just to see. Well i taped a wee reminder to myself and went on a 100mile run & discovered that muz likes to rev the sv's gearboxes t*ts way beyond the speed when i should be changing the gears. I stuck as close to the guide as much as i could and all problems disappeared. It'll have to stay on as a reminder until my problem has naturally corrected itself. I noticed myself changing gears a LOT more smoothly and safer. Give it a bash and you'll immediately notice things!

don't know how your having trouble changing gear. i can pin the throttle wide open and keep it there till it hits the limiter and while keeping the throttle wide open change up 1, limiter-2, limiter-3, limiter-4, limiter then i bottle out changing into 5th and still have no problems. the clunk is supposed to be there if i don't get that nice mechanical click/clunk sound then i think there is something wrong. the only time i get problems is when i'm not taking my foot away from the leaver which results in false neutrals or no changing.

yes i have no mechanical sympathy for my bike.

the bike would be boggy as hell changing to fifth at 30! I'm in 2nd or 3rd.
You need to be in the right gears at the right time, that allow you to speed up or slow down without needing to change gear.

My main issue was 1st to 2nd but this has made me realise im taking too long to do it. Its a experiment bibio. I suppose im scared in case the gearbox goes snap again but doing this is teaching me much smoothness on gear changes.

More often than not it's also to do with how much throttle you are using. i can quite happily use about 40% throttle and shift at 6k in every gear. Bike is absolutely fine with it.
It's all about technique, finding out what you are comfortable with and what the bike also likes.

your more likely to make a gearbox go bang by labouring it. keeping a steady throttle is the key, if the bike is 'hunting' then your doing damage.

the correct gear is the one where you can keep a steady throttle no matter what the speed.

I would agree with that

I know that my downshift problem is through the worm drive needing adjusted and regreased.

Personally you shouldn't be going into the top 3 gears until the following speeds (for Bibs reasons above)

4th until around 50mph
5th: 65 to 70mph
6th 75+ mph. Top is a overdrive ratio TBH as it doesn't really work until about 70 (Standard S gearing puts the engine at 6k at 80mph)

Agreed and I noticed it yesterday a bit. I can easily go back to what I was doing with rest of the gears. Its a refining process especially after the throttle balance, oil change, worm and clutch adjustment and clean etc.... I just wanted to sort out my initial gear change issues. No harm in sharing my findings.
