Giving my curvy 02 a new lease of life. Recommendations?

I've hardly ridden my 650S from 02 much over the last year.

Recently, when I have ridden it, I've not been most confident. I'm sure it's mostly down to my lack of recent riding experience, but there are no doube things that need doing to the bike to get it back to its tip-top grin-producing abilities

I've got the Haynes book for it, but don't really have many tools (more than a few spanners), and more importantly don't have a garage to work it so I'm happy to take it to a good mechanic for the work that needs doing. I'm based in Reading, but work in Basingstoke so if anyone has any recommendations of good, friendly guys, I'm all ears.

In all honest, the bike hasn't been looked after that well - I've had it from new, and did care for it religiously over the first few years, but as I've had less time to ride it, it's just been sat outside (under a cover) for 99% of the year As a result, I'm aware that there are lots of things that probably needs replacing and I'm happy to put the cash forward as it will still be cheaper than changing for a new bike.

The bike is in fully original configuration apart from a pair of high-level titanium cans from Renegade I had fitted years ago. Love the sound and performance boost. Haven't had the carbs dynojetted or whatever the term is.

Recent work done:
had a service last year which included oil+filter change, new brake fluids.

Things on my to-do list:

• change current 020s which are fairly worn / sawn off.
• Possibly get the front forks re-oiled. The seals on the top are looking a bit worse for wear so a complete overhaul would not be a bad idea.
• Maybe change chain + sprockets. Still on original set, bike has around 23k miles, but has had a scotoiler since day 1. Last time I tensioned, the stretch wasn't measured to be excessive.
• Get my speedo fixed. It's been buggy since the last tyre change so I'm suspecting the rotor is misplaced, or more likely chewed up to pieces.
• Get carbs checked and adjusted for synchronisation. Is dynojetting worth it, particularly with the can change? I've never had performance problems.
• Get valve clearance checked and adjusted. I believe this is a cold engine job so probably not possible in a day if the bike is dropped off in the morning and to be picked up in the evening? I don't think it's ever been done as none of my service history mentions it and probably more than overdue at 23k miles?

Any other suggestions? Other things to check out for?

There's a good bloke in Sherborne St John (just outside of Bstoke), I think his company name is LB Motorcycles. Just his own little business, and doesn't charge too much either. Give him a ring; particularly cheap if you can supply the parts yourself, and leaves you more room for haggling

Thanks mate, will look it up. No problem sourcing the parts and handing bike + parts over to him
