Default mixed message ?

stopped at a honda dealers today on my ride about, they now put the MPG figures on their sports bikes..how very Honda of them.

and then right next to them is this sign

I can't imagine you'd get nearly 55mpg from a CBR600 if you kept it "pinned", do you ?

Cheers Mark.

One I borrowed didn't do 55mpg if you rode like a girl... bag of sh*t thing...

Hows that for development when the (clear lies) from the marketing department fail in fuel economy when compared to what I can actually get from a 900cc behemoth with an engine designed basically in the late 70s.
That's emissions and noise regs for you...

Dobles are one of the few places that actually stock Baglux kit. Got my Minea bag from there after popping in for a looksy and they were a very friendly bunch. Still wouldn't buy one of their bikes mind...

HONDA - Had One, Never Doing Again!

The CB600F I had as a hire bike a while back was more bland than than the pop charts!

It's a world industry thing, look up WMTC (worldwide motorcycle test cycle) for all the boring stuff.

Unfortunately it's about as much use as the CO2 rating for cars, but trying to create any standard test will always be so. It does allow you to compare bikes more or less, but the absolute numbers will always be pure fairytale.

It is pure fairytale because, as with cars, the engines are designed to have sweet spots at the prescribed rpm so they give artificially efficient results. Do you think any of these "under 100gms/km CO2" cars will ever produce anything like that little when actually being driven? Of course not. Bikes are the same.

They should have a standardised test where the bike is on a rolling road, run it slowly up
The rev range over the space of 10mins and then give it an abstract efficiency figure.
