Default Bikes & cars you've hated owning

Have you ever bought a bike, car etc that has been cursed and that you wish you'd never bought, working on them is never easy, and its one problem after another. Costing time, money & pulling your hair out.

My current bête noire is my camper van, I'd just bought a new battery, which I thought had resolved a starting problem,

£97 thank you for a new battery. Problem resolved,

So it was fixed and ready to sell, so I'd listed it on EBAY with a Buy It now price as I'd had enough of all the other niggley & annoying problems.

Sold it on the same day I listed it, but only to some troll with no feedback, who'd no intention of buying it.

Then the starting problem returned and It now appears that its the starter solenoid contacts, which could be a cheap fix or a new starter motor if its the wrong type.

Worst bike I ever had was a BMW R80, never enjoyed owning it. Moto Guzzi Spada was a close second, but it did handle like it was on rails and had a bit of character, and wasn't unreliable, but hadn't been looked after well by the previous owner.

Worst car: VW Golf 1.4 with 4 speed gearbox, under powered, I'd sold my Saab 900 as I thought the GOLF would be cheaper on fuel, which was a huge mistake.

I had more enjoyment from a £50 Talbot Solara compared to the Golf.

So name & shame your worst piece of transport

I had a Vauxhall Corsa. Worst car I've ever driven. Horrific handling. Luckily I had my Skyline at the same time to make up for it!

Had a Vauxhall Astra recently too. Also awful in every way, and head gasket blew at 40k miles.

Basically would never buy Vauxhalls again.

Had a Vauxhall Zafira, horrible car DPS filter constantly clogged despite frequent motorway journeys then the alternator failed sub 25k and the car only just over 3 years old.

Now have a Citroen C4GP nice car but no end of probs with electronic handbrake, I had it for a week before I had to take back and dealer kept for 7 weeks before it was resolved. Still have it much better than Zafira tho.

Worst bike was my first, low milage, newish Aprillia RS50, loked for ages to find a decent one. Had it less than a year and went thru 3 clutch cables which were expensive and a nightmare to get hold of. That and c#*p build quality.

Bought a Honda 250super dream for a winter /rainy day ride to work.
Unreliable and was fitted with FVQ suspension that did fade very quickly.
Had it 2 weeks and drove the recover truck over it to put it out of it's misery.
Bought a Yam instead

Strange, my old mk2 Astra 1.3 was quite good, but the mark 3's we had at work especially the diesels were horrible to drive.

But the 2 Cavaliers we had were fine & I also regret getting rid of my 1.8 GLs for this feckin camper van.

We've got a diesel Zafira at the mo, and its had some problems, but its on 59k
. Its such a practical car for the family, but it'll be my last Vauxhall, as the build quality isn't anywhere near my old Cavalier's.

C4GP is much more practical with the 2 top dash bins as well as the glove box. The Zafira severley lack 'cubby' holes. Another issue was the bench type rear seat, its a night mare when u have car seats. The citroen has 3 individual rear seats which move independantly.

Worst car :- Volvo 340, handled like a 3 legged Cow on Ice skates.
Worst Bike :- Suzuki GS550E, not the bikes fault but the previous owner who welded a 4 inch tubular steel into the frame and didn't do a great job, bought the bike in Auckland New Zealand, rode it to 30 miles short of Dunedin in the South Island and when round a corner and the whole frame twisted, and I was nearly put under an Arctic lorry coming in the opposite direction. Got it to Dunedin and sold it to a garage who had a spare frame.
