Default Pointy Starting issues

hello pro's

rode for an hour this morning to a local Halfords for cleaning accessories, came out to start the bike and no power was coming from the battery - nothing on the display and no starting up whine...
i got bumped her fine **** down the road and as i was riding around 40-45mph keeping the revs up, the speedo said 150mph -160mph and kept going crazy lol, after 30 seconds the speedo corrected itself.

anyway i got home and she sometimes starts fine, and sometimes has no power from the battery... the battery is pumping out 12.6 so it seems fine.

any ideas guys?

12.6 is low, battery should be kicking out 13v, 13.2v max when charging.

I only picked up wheel cleaning gubbins.

12.6 should be enough to power the display? right? i mean nothing happened when i turned the key.

12.6V is fine. Have you checked for loose fuses?

Intermittent power/nothing.
Sounds like it could be the 'Green' connector problem.
Ignition barrel to loom connector.
Search 'Green Connector'.

I'd start here. Loose battery terminals give both a lack of power, and lack of stable power causing the speedo to move around. Check the connections at the battery, the main relay, and the earth strap to the engine (follow the +'ve & -ve wires and check the other side is tight too)

Be careful when tightening the +ve terminals as if you touch the frame with the tools, you'll create a load of sparks.
