I have three days off next week, and I fancy taking in the south west Dorset / Devon / Cornwall ish for a couple of days - but I have no idea which roads are good and which are not ( I live oop t north...) So... Can anyone recommend me some decent riding roads in those areas that I can take in (and any bike friendly B&B's too whilst we're at it !) ?? if you see a yellow curvy wobbling round next Monday / Tuesday, give me a wave ![]() Thanks for your help chaps n chapesses |

B3157 from Bridport to Weymouth, takes you through Burton Bradstock with some decent coastal views and the road is good to, just watch for police and the 50mph limit.
A39 North Devon Coast, Minehead to Lynton up over Porlock Hill and then out over Exmoor. Some great roads. First bit of A39 can be a bit of a pig in the summer with tourists though. A30 from Salisbury to Shaftesbury, then B3081 over The Zig Zag and then Through Tollard Royal et all, just to ride the Zig Zag Really, but you can loop round and then end up back in Salisbury again. Or from Shaftesbury on A350 towards Blandford, then go A357 through Durweston & Shillingtone. Then A3030 to Sherborne. You could probably do the Salisbury A30, Shaftesbury, Sherborne, then to Dorchester through Cerne Abbas, then to Weymouth and then onto Bridport on the route I said above comfortably in 1/2 day or a day if you feel like stopping and exploring. Weymouth should be OK again now the Olympic sailing is over...

Torpoint to Looe in Cornwall (Ferry crossing at Plymouth to Torpoint) is a great bit of road.
There are also some good roads around the periphery of Dartmoor e.g. Yelverton to Okehampton (the ones on Dartmoor itself tend to be riddled with sheep and ponies meandering around). In fact if you are keen you could ride from Plymouth to Bideford via Okehampton, a trip that takes you from the south coast to north coast of Devon on some wonderful biking roads and it's under 60 miles.
