Firstly it rocks due to the fact speedy lives there but I wad amazed by the honest people there.
I spent a lovely 2 days there, the first I spent in the pubs. I managed to leave my mobile phone on a bar and by the time I realised I had lost it I figured it was long gone ...... but no, someone gave it to the barman and we were reunited. My fella wore his new jacket to Chinese, left it there ... thank to Speedy we got back to Chinese and got it back.... ACE ! Anyone else had such luck with relying on other peoples honesty ? Speedy also rules ! Putting up with 2 drunks lol x x x

I lost my virginity to a Scouse bird. (True).
While at Anglessey earlier this year, I left my Leathers, Boots and Back Protector behind. Couple of Scousers handed them all in. I still think that Stan Boardman, Cilla Black, Jimmy Tarbuck and Derek Hatton and professional scousers are a pita though. Nobbylad is bearable. |

Had two cars broken into there, daughter had her flat robbed when she was at John Moores
Scousers need sharia law. But the chopper would be busy.

Me too lol
Tsk tsk ![]() Shellz - I wish you'd said you were coming up! As for Tim's comments, I guess every major city and outlying suburbs have their scumbags...I lived in Manchester for 6yrs, in what was supposed to be a 'nice area'. The shed was broken into twice, mountain bikes/power tools stolen and then one morning, thieves broke into the house (while my wife and I and the 4 young children were asleep), stole a few things and then drove off in my diesel people carrier, only stopping a few miles down the road to put petrol in it. Unfortunately the Police were unable to get fingerprints off the carving knife that they'd taken out of the knife rack and left in the hallway, presumably in case they were disturbed. I guess there's one thing that the last few days (should) have taught people outside of the city, is that ill-formed stereotypes, perpetuated by years of ignorance are seldom true. But then again, it takes a bigger, more educated person to admit that they might be wrong in their views... |

Nobbylad, I have also had cars broken into twice in Manchester, so it is not just a Liverpool thing.
I have had about 15 years experience of visiting some of the dodgier parts of Liverpool. A friendlier bunch of people you will never meet. However, some of the deals I used to be offered you would think no container ever came out of the docks intact. I have been offered cigars, shirts, shoes, televisions. But these are people who can keep their face straight as if there is nothing wrong with what they are doing. Brand new leather jackets with a few glasses scratches? It is the general perception that the scouser gives out, every one of them is on a scam. The thing is and I am sure it is the same for Liverpool. Some of the most honest people I have ever met are also the poorest. It is because they would never dream of finding something before it was lost, doing a scam, they are the ones at the bottom of the heap, when in truth they deserve to be on top of it.

![]() Quote:
It's an image portrayed over many years, compounded by factors like TV serials such as Bread and Brookside and further compounded by other media outlets, where branding a whole city and those who live within it as thieves, militants and general dossers fits an easy, but far from true stereotype. I guess you've never spent a similar amount of time around the poorer areas of London? Again, there's a (more subtle and to some extent more rosy) picture painted of 'the crafty cockney', the loveable rogues such as Arther Daley, Del Boy etc. I've been offered far more contraband in London than I ever have in Merseyside, Manchester, Glasgow or Edinburgh, but then again, I expect that as it's a massive city...not because it's full of shandy drinking southern criminals (stereotype intended). I got back from Mexico recently, what a lovely place, I was offered cigars, marijuana, cocaine and prostitutes - I guess there's a stereotype about Mexican people somewhere, certainly amongst the loud-mouthed, holier than thou, USA is the centre of the earth Yanks (again, stereotype intended). What's my point? My point is that over and above the media views, the tired old cliches and the perpetuation of ignorance, people should really try to lift their heads a little higher and balance their views against their own experiences and a reasonable view of what they would expect to find elsewhere. I'm not intending to 'have a go' at you Tim, but over the last few days my city has been vindicated from some of the most despicable untrue allegations levelled at anyone I can remember. And you know what? I'm sick and tired of people trotting out the easy line of, 'oh...you're a scouser, check your wallets lads', or 'if you're going to Liverpool, don't drive too slowly or they'll rob the wheels off your car as you're driving', or even, 'You killed your own fans, you killed your own fans, you thieving b*st*ards, you killed your own fans'. It's a shame that it took 23yrs to get the truth out about Hillsborough and I have no doubt that it will take more time for sword of justice to be swung. However, I'm afraid it will take a lot longer for people to give up the prejudices that they have about my beautiful city. As ever, I'll carry on as I always have, in the face of adversity, prejudice and ignorance, I'll always remain proud of my city, the majority of the people within it and refrain from taking dim views of others. I'm scouse and I'm proud. |

Same with most places, there are some very nice well to do areas, and there are your 'dodgy' outlying Council estate areas that are not so nice...
Met plenty of very nice scousers in the past, and also a handful of dodgy ones. It's the same wherever you go. |
