Default London Vandalism!

Evening all,

Well I'm really on here to vent some anger - some tool decided to try and fit their bike/scooter in next to my BRAND NEW SV today - in doing so they're broken my mirror off, snapped my clutch lever and dented my tank! Of course they didn't hang around and i'm relying on CCTV to have caught it on film, which i'll be requesting to view tomorrow.

Unreal, I've only had the bike since Saturday! I've posted a picture of the tank damage as i'm after some ideas on repair, without having to replace the tank at what I assume will be a great cost! Luckily it's not damaged the paint so hopefully it won't rust. Any ideas on fixing this?

Anyway, hope you can all sympathise! I'm off to bed to sulk!

Dan

I'd be fuming !! Inconsiderate *******s, need there's ball chopping off and their license taken off them!! Has someone knocked it over? Or generally decided to snap the mirror and lever and then hit your tank with the mirror?

Stone the crows! Bummer.

Sadly it's all too common an occurence in Laandaaan. You'll find quite a few threads about it on here.

I can't see any way of repairing the tank other than taking it to a bodyshop although one of those travelling dent people may be able to help you but I can't see it as it's in an odd place.

Good luck finding the culprit! If you do find out the details you might have to push it with the old bill. I had similar with a work vehicle and they first said the driver couldn't remember hitting the van to which I was furious.

I can sympathise.

I had a middle-class lady of a certain age reverse into my RD125LC (my pride and joy of the time) and then blame me for 'parking in a stupid place'.

I could quite cheerfully have done her some severe damage.

As it turns out she was under the influence so hubby handed over some cash and they departed in a hurry.

Good luck with finding the miscreant and ensuring his their removal from the gene pool.

If you park in London regularly, get a s**t bike. If you ride into London once in a blue moon on your nice bike, and park in a motorcycle bay, you take that risk I'm afraid.

Unfortunately its part of the course in the motorcycle bays. I had 2 wing mirrors ripped off. In the end I either parked at the end of the bay or found a bay further away and cycled to work on a boris bike with full motorcycle kit on. It couldve been worse and ended up on the floor. I found there were a few more spaces when term finished and also when winter came along. Just enjoy riding the bike and dont let the aesthetics get you down.

What a bast@rd thing to happen. I reckon they knocked the bike over squeezing themselves out.
I work in London and see some lovely bikes sandwiched between some right heaps. I fear it won't be last time it'll be scratched. A tank bag might be useful in the long run.

It's like a jungle sometimes, it makes me wonder how I keep from going under.

That damage is consistent with the bike been knocked over, the mirror snaps and the bars hit the tank.
It certainly takes a lot more than a clumsy elbow to cause a dent like that.

Wether its been knocked or it fell its still a sucky day.

The bike wouldn't have fallen on that side unless someone has pushed it forward as it has fallen on the stand side.

What baffles me is that IIRC the OEM clipons for SV650Ss would hit the tank a lot lower down, so, why did it hit the top part of the tank?
