Default Org pilots - whats going on here?

I took this a few days ago. Living under the flight path of trans-Atlantic flights means trails are nothing unusual. But this one had me bemused.

Of the three parallel lines on the left (from Southeast, presumably Glasgow) the jet entered via the central one, and out by the uppermost one. A couple of sharp banks left, fainter trails, and it crossed over itself, then made the large triangular clockwise manoeuvre to return in exactly the direction it came from.

By the time I took notice, it was far in the distance so I can't give any info other than you see here.

Any ideas?

Perhaps the wind direction changed, or change of runway at the airport. So had to turn his approach and head in from a different direction?

Flickr is odd, it doesn't give you a link to the pic but to the page.

I went to see all sizes then picked a size and got the link directly from the pic.

Cool, ta.

dj - the nearest airport is 140ish miles away, so unlikely in this case.
