Coolant in oil?

i definatly have all my coolant in my oil but i'm not 100% how it's getting there. my first thought is the water pump seal failed so i've stripped it and it seems ok. i've put water in it and it doesn't seem to be leaking but that is turned by hand. is there a better way to test/check the water pump? or is there a way to check the head gaskets, with out taking the heads off? i really hope it's not the heads as i don't want to strip the tops down

it's a 99/2000 track bike.

Hmmmmm, all your coolant? you sure that's a lot of fluid, or was it a little "creamy", as that can be caused by condensation (if it's been stored for sometime.), you can check the compression which would show any leaks (including head gasket) and also if any water is "blowing" through the exhaust, might give you a clue

yeah it's more than just a little creamy and my rad has no water in it anymore, when i loosened off the coolant drain screw the oily crap came out of there, it has been blown through the crank breather too. had more than the 2.3l out of the sump when i took the water pump off to drain what was left.

Head gasket?

Did you have coolant or just water in the radiator?. If its just water or old coolant then its probaly frozen in the cold weather and popped the core (freeze) plugs in the heads.

i'd never heard of freeze plugs till you said, now i've checked them and the front head has popped a plug

saved my engine but the plug is missing where do they end up?
and where do i find replacements? (found it no need to replace)

(im female btw).

They usually sit around where the cams are and hide..or if your unlucky can drop down the cam chain tunnel in which case you will need to remove the clutch and have a look as they can sit down the back of the clutch.

Suzuki dont sell them so you either find the one thats popped and glue it back in or get a secondhand head and remove one carefully to use. A good car motor factors will sell them as they are similar to what are fitted to some cars.

i do apologise but your still a star, got that info before i decided to strip my engine down so saved me loads of hassle. thank you.
if you hadn't have said anything i would still be happily assuming you were called steve (and if you are called steve as a short, i'll pull my foot out a bit more)

bike is mostly sorted now, just getting all the gunk out the sump and flushing through the rad.
