can you dyno tune the stock ECU ?
any bad side affects ? is it better than using a power commander ? what sort of price ? and most importantly where can i get the tuning done ? PS i want to tune the stock ECU and not my restricted one, my restriction is up early next year so while i have some cash and have nearly finished all the mods i though i might as well get it tuned now plus i want to do some track days before my restriction is up |

ohh and do i really need to get my bike dyno'd?
on it at the moment i have art stubby race can factory Pro velocity stacks (mid range) cut down air filter snorkel 17mm tank risers in other words not a lot but before i get it done i might add factory pro ignition advance (4degre i think) desnorkel K&N/BMC air filter and at a later date (read late next year) full exhaust system |

There's a place up the road from you on the other side of Hinckley that I had mine done: http://www.hilltopmotorcycles.com/
However when I had mine done, he mentioned something about him needing to change it from a 16 bit to a 32 bit ecu (something like that) to be able to make the changes that would benefit it. Definately better than a Power Commander, as there's no delay for the info to relay back to the PC, and then back to the bike. Not cheap mind, was £300 for both exhausts to be stubbied, and for the ECU to be remapped, but it did make a small bit of difference - nothing huge though. Although it did sort out fuelling issues I was having with it drinking oil after I'd put the race exhaust on it. Last edited by Steve_God; 02-08-10 at 03:29 PM. |

rolling road tests are around £40- 60 just for a map run
i think my mates stage 1 dyno time (for a bandit) was around the £300 mark 4 yr ago the ignition advances ain't worth the benefit they struggle when cold and at low revs

there is easier and cheaper gains to be had. Improving the rider is the best one as it allows more use of whats there.

If you're looking for a cheaper option, perhaps a 'Yoshi Box' ECU remap might be better.
