Default Race Van For Sale. 3.5t LWB ex-mobility Transit with Wheel chair lift!

Well, I've been agonising a long time over this, but the time has come to sell my trusty race van.
It's a partially converted L reg ex-mobility van based on a Ford Transit LWB 3.5 tonne with (and this is the best bit) a hydraulic wheel chair lift on the back.

I've owned her since about 2005 and have had the joy of several full seasons racing minitwins before family stuff finally took over, and she ended up only getting used for the odd track day. It'll easily take 2 bikes with everything else for a weekend, but I have had 3 in it more than once.
It's partially kitted out with sink (no running water, but does have a drain hole under the van), gas hob, carpets, 2 fold down beds with mattresses and a fold down table that goes over the top of the folding passenger seat. There's loads of storage and tie down points too.
It has fluorescent lighting in the front and back that run off both the main battery and a leisure battery (which I actually rarely need to use) and has speakers throughout that run off the main radio in the cab.
The ramp at the back is a fold out hydraulic wheelchair ramp. I extend it a bit with a couple of planks and it's plenty strong enough to lift my lardy backside and a bike. Never had any problems with it. It has an isolation switch in the main cab and a hand winch if it should ever fail.
It is MASSIVE inside. Seriously, you could live in this thing! I can easily stand up in it and I'm over 6 foot.
The race-reg fire extinguishers are fitted (not by me but this was an ex local authority van so it's all done properly.)

Good points
It's got a tail lift on it!
It's HUGE!
Ex local authority so it was looked after well
Excellent runner - parked offroad at a friends garage and he looks after it well. Runs it every couple of months and does the MOT every year.
Power steering.
New handbrake cable and battery last year.
2.5 litre so pulls well. Will quite happily cruise at (just) over motorway speeds, but it's not the most aerodynamic design!

Bad Points
It's taken reversing whack at some point in the past (not by me!) and has a bit of damage on the offside rear. It's had a fibreglass repair and is taped over. I've never done any more than this and it's been fine.
It's never been garaged in the time I've owned it and to be honest, it's not the most attractive of vans.
It's only got 2 seats in it - the drivers in the cab and 1 passenger directly behind it. All the fittings are there to add more though and they come up on ebay a lot. Any transit seats will fit.

MOT till end of Jan.
Tax has just run out, but if someone wants it I'll stick 6 months on it.

I've kipped in a lot of race vans over the years and this is definately the most roomy and fit for purpose thing around. If I could keep it and get the use out of it it deserves I wouldn't be selling it. Unfortunately (as far as racing is concerned!) more children mean this isn't going to happen any time soon, and I'd rather not see it parked up.

Selling for £1200 including the tax to an 'orger. ONO if no tax.
Would consider some sort of p\x with a 2 or 3 bike trailer.

Purely out of interest, what sort of MPG do you get from it?

No idea off the top of my head. It's diesel and costs about £60-£70 to fill up nowadays. That'd get me to Pembrey from North of London and prob most of the way back, so a fair old way. It's probably not as efficient as a Transit but it's not terrible either. The guy I bought it off had run it on veg oil for a couple of years without any problems. I had the hoses replaced when I started her back on diesel again.

it's what's on the inside that counts barwel!
If only I could replace 'Your Mom' in your avatar with 'My van'...

Good price for an orger - if/when it goes on fleabay, I'll stick it on for a bit more and see what happens. Would rather it stayed as a race van tbh and still bump into it round the paddock. I've grown rather attached to her - it took me a long time to find a van like this and I'll be sad to see it go.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, would consider some sort of a p\x with a 2 or 3 bike trailer.

MK4 transit, if its the diesel (more than likely the "banana" engine a whopping 76ps) then expect around 25mpg around town and a little bit more on a longer motorway run.

Doesn't look very sporty, what were you racing it against?
Sorry, not helpful but hope you get a sale, I'd imagine someone will be interested, looks like an ideal vehicle!

Novel use for a mong-bus, I like it but sadly have no use for it.

I'd love that! But then, I'm a Mong... and 4500 miles away!
