I think the general consensus is to completely ignore it and all subsequent letters regarding possible court proceedings etc. They'll eventually climb back into their holes with the rest of the scrotal scum.

Where?

Just ignore it! They're not enforceable in a court

How much is it for? I got one from mcD's for parking there all day. I was gonna ignore it, but paid it in the end since I was totally in the wrong, and I really didn't want to get loads of scary letters through the door.

£75 or £150 if not paid in 14 days. Gonna research more tomorrow. It was just in a local shopping center, the letter looks like classic mailmerge crap trying to LOOK official. The bit about their appeals procedure being to pay them and THEN appeal to get a refund! Cheeky sods.

Thanks for the quick replies guys, I know the subject has been covered before too so I'll search the org more in the morning, just wanted a quick opinion of what we'd be best doing.
Thanks!

+1 Ignore, no matter what they threaten its not enforceable.

If you want some fun, ask for evidence and when they don't provide it and continue to make threats, report them for harassment.

A lot round here are ANPR though, so if you do they may send a picture.

A couple of years ago, the wife overstayed in Aldi using my car. I got the official looking letter (with black and white psuedo police border) Ignored the first, repllied to the second stating it wasn't me as I was at work in a different town and not required to inform them who the driver was. Got a few more letters then they gave up.

So +1 to ignoring it. Everything is 'may' take you to court. At the time, there was only one court case they had won. They only got it because the guy had said it wasn't him driving. But it could be proved it was, the peppipoo suspicion was that it was rigged so they had precedent. So beware if you do decide to have contact.
