Default Oil spread on roads around Alston

Just a heads up for anyone riding up to or around Alston/hartside cafe. It appears that some muppet my be purposely spreading a large amount of oil on the bike roads around the Stanhope area (a689) and a few other roads around there and a few reports of bikers coming off. Police aware and a few warning signs up. Keep your eyes open and spidey senses on if your around the area guys.

Cant understand if its done for the reason of injuring bikers there's some odd folk about. Ride safe.

One report said a lad had an off and a fight with a barb wire fence which cut his neck could have been nasty.

This has happened before on the drop from Hartside to Penrith.
Mud and/or oil deliberately spread by a farmer.
Will bump that thread.

You wouldn't think Police HQ is just outside Penrith on A686, would you?

in fairness they don't have century guards .
you'ed have to hide up to catch the perpetrator.

I'm fairly sure I read that something similar had happened on the cat and fiddle a few years back. Either way, its a disgusting act, and I hope whoever was responsible gets everything coming to them.
