At least this idiot got some sort of punishment:
http://www.visordown.com/motorcycle-...ths/23242.html Nearly came a cropper to something similar a few weeks back. Was distracted (stupidly) by a texting driver I was overtaking on a free-flowing motorway - looked up and there's two cars almost stationary in lane one, just past an exit. No idea what was going on (can only assume one had tried to make the junction and the other had slammed on) - was really mad at myself for not seeing it sooner.

Yeah, I read about this. Apparently the guy stood on his brakes, but, was no where near a junction and as such got what he deserved

The way I read it he cut across from lane two in order to exit down a slip road then braked inexplicably.Reading between the lines it sounds like there was more going on,possibly a bit of road rage over something that had happened just before? One of the comments suggested there was another car involved which had to swerve to avoid the slow car.i see a lot of dicking about on motorways and sometimes it is likely to end badly.
As for the cutting across two(or more)lanes at the last moment to exit I call it the Essex Boy manouvre as its so common on that section of the M25 and all down the A12.Just my bit of judgemental prejudice no doubt as Im sure some Essex Boys can drive normally without being complete c0cks.

The standard of driving is this country is getting shockingly bad. It's a shame these Darwin Award nominees take other peoples lives rather than there own.

Something odd about the way the M3 splits into 4 lanes, two for each of M27 East and West, seems nothing is happening for a mile then the junction happens very quick - often see cars go from lane 4 to 1 then back to 3 as they cant figure their East from West, left from right or understand what their sat nav is burbling on about with the 'exit left then keep right' confusement.

and the other way southbound where Portsmouth is on your left and Bournemouth your right but you take the road going the other way which then crosses to the correct direction. |

![]() ![]() This happened about 1/2 a mile from where I live so know it well. It isn't a good junction, basically the M65 crosses the M61 and there is a roundabout beneath the M65. Traffic gets queued back because of the traffic lights on a heavily used motorway interchange. Even though I am a regular user of that junction, several time when I want to take the 3rd junction off, I overtake the queued traffic in the first lane of the M65 in order to then use the second lane of the slip road. Get in where the very small no 2 is shown on the map. Lane 1 is filtered onto the M61, lane 2 splits for back onto the M65, Walton Summit or the M61 to M6. this filtering causes cars who in all innocence attempting to leave the motorway who find themselves in lane one having to get into lane 2 and vice versa. I wouldn't be surprised if the driver was simply confused which lane he needed to be in and forgot to drive in accordance with normal motorway procedures. Assuming that he had simply left it too late to get over, the annoying thing is there are two further roundabout 500/700 yards further on the motorway, He could have done a U turn there
