Default Why getting new tyres on New Year's Eve not always good idea....

So I thought I would take advantage of work being quiet and slipping out to get some new Michelin PR3's fitted front & rear on a ride in/ride out.

So all going fine until they come to do the back wheel.
With the back wheel off, the friction material fell away from one of the pads in two pieces. Pads did have a bit of meat on them so assume corrosion to blame.
Tyre centre didn't have any pads in stock, so they rung around all the local bike dealers. All are shut

So a nice triple whammy, with having to ride home on brand new tyres, on wet roads, with only the front brakes & good old v twin engine braking - Deep joy !

New pads on order from WEMOTO, EBC HH for the front & GG for the rear, thought I'd do the lot while I'm at it, together with the soap & toothbrush treatment for the calipers ready for the salt season.

Lesson learnt - next time, don't leave it till the holiday season
