Default Geek help required - bluetooth

Right, I have this problem with my Bluetooth headphones.

It works fine when paired with my phone & home PC.

But using a USB Bluetooth adapter on both my netbook & laptop it doesn't work.

In BT devices, its connected to the machine in question, so its paired ok.

But the symptoms are diagnosed when I click on the device sound settings, which show the laptop or netbook speakers as active, but when I right click on the blue tooth headset icon & select connect, it changes to a green tick for a second, then disconnects itself, then re connects & then disconnects again.

Before you ask, I have done the simple things within bluetooth management and scoured the interweb for advice.

I've even been into Bluetooth support services in Local services in Windows and changed some settings, which didn't help.

Tried disabling the wireless card on both to see if it was a conflict with that.

Both netbook & laptop are running windows 7

Update the drivers for the adapter?

Also worth setting Bluetooth to the minimum security to see if that works, it certainly did for similar problems with our works laptops.

Drivers up to date

Not sure if there's any Buetooth security settings I can adjust?

How did you do this?

Can't remember if it was in control panel or just from the icon on the task bar but it should be part of preferences.

Sounds like it''s going to be a pain to me.

Can you try unpairing the headphones from the BT adapter and then pairing again.

Sometimes things can be tempermental like that...That's one of the reasons I went off computers and got into motorbikes. At least you can see what's wrong once you find the problem. (Providing it's not electrical...)

Yes, its a right pain.

Tried that.

Might be easier to just buy a transmitter & plug it in to the headphone socket & pair that to the headphones.

Don't understand why I don't have the same problem with the desktop PC.

Right, got my works laptop now, If you right click on the Bluetooth icon on your taskbar you should be able to choose options and then security.

Cheers, I'll see if that is an option, although I don't recall seeing it as an option

There definitely should be a security option somewhere.

Right, I've totally failed to make the Bluetooth dongle connect with the headset using the laptop or netbook.

I've officially given up.
