Default Curvey rectifier, original or replacement?

Hi everybody,
Can anyone tell me if this is the original rectifier on my 2000 curvy?
I've heard they can cause problems, mine seems to be ok at the moment but I'm planning a spot of touring later this year and wonder if it's worth replacing.
Cheers.

That's the original.

Forums telescope all faults into one spot, reading this forum might make you think Curvy owners fit a new rectifier with every tank of fuel, but the reality is that most bikes have never had a failure.

If it were me going touring I'd be more concerned about the obvious consumables - brakes, tyres, chains etc, and that I had enough miles left before the next service to accommodate the anticipated mileage.

I do

In all seriousness check the R/R and the wiring (melted wiring can be an issue) but you need to be more concerned with what Sid has said (tyres, chains etc..)

Thanks Guys,
Guess if it ain't broke don't fix it.

On the other points, tyres, chain, sprockets and rear pads replaced about 3,000 miles ago last year.
oil and filter about 2,000 miles ago.

Just replaced the front pads and fitted HEL front brake lines as part of a handlebar conversion.
In the process of trying to sort out the carbs.

I'll be getting an oil/filter change, changing the coolant and checking all the brakes etc before I go.

Thanks for the advice, as always most welcome.
Franco.

Make sure the connector blades/contacts are good and clean, and also check all the fuse blades including the main fuse in the starter relay. I suspect a lot of issues arise out of dirty/corroded contacts, high restistance generates a lot of heat and causes burnt connectors.

Clean them, apply dielectric grease or vaseline or ACF50.

That's me the weekend then.
Wires seem stiff which I think is age but not charred or burnt.
I'll have a look at the connectors and clean them up, apply a smear of vaseline.
Thanks for the back to basics, sometimes the most obvious is the most elusive.
