Where exactly should I cut the stock exhaust if I want to replace it with a aftermarket exhaust?
I heard that 2-3 inches above the welding point is good, but the person who I bought it from said I should cut it right end of the stock pipe, and also that I may have to rejet/remap it. That wouldn't be necessary right? Its just a slip on. |

no re-jetting required for a slip on can the dynamic nature of the FI will take care of any minor adjustment that maybe needed (on the earlier carbed bikes people normally won't bother either), as to the cut, 55-60mm beyond the weld below the footpeg assembly is the normal place.

I went for 60mm and only just cleared the honeycomb inside.

Kinda depends on what your bike is - but we don't know.

Think it's the bike in his sig, 03 sv650s.
When I cut mine, I cut it further from the weld so I could offer new can up and then I cut it again to the correct place I wanted it. I done mine with a reciprocating saw so took seconds to cut. |

Right, so I'll cut 60mm from the weld, that's the spot everyone else is doing. Don't know why the seller suggested I would cut right at the end of the mid-pipe going up to the stock exhaust.

Puzzled about why this one, about an SV650, was moved out of the SV650 specific forum. Was it because he didn't give the bike type right at the start?

I may or may not have cut through this "honeycomb" of which you speak. Is this a problem?

No Matt, it's to do with emissions and only tested at point of manufacture, so you can take it out or leave it, up to you.
