Does anyone know about a scam where someone phones you up allegidly from an insurance company (Secure Shield in this case) and wants to talk to you about your life insurance policy?
I said I don't have any life insurance and they asked why not etc, and if I have any outgoings (kids, mortgage etc.). I was wandering if this was a known scam? or if it was a legit call, with someone getting my details from somewhere or other. |

Just tell them you're dying of aids.

Usually, if I'm unsure of a company I google their number or use http://whocallsme.com/
If you've not got their number then best thing to do is google the company, I just had a look and nothing came up under that name so sounds a bit 'iffy' |

its all done from marketing call centres on behalf of the company who hires them. the staff are given a sales pitch sheet/computer program then told to get on with it.

Sounds a bit like the calls you get when they want to talk about "the accident you had". And then seem, strangely, to not have any specific details about it, almost as if they're just ambulance-chasing, sub-human, scum-sucking, socially-repellent, money-grabbing skidmarks trying to talk you in to claiming unnecessary damages against someone else's insurance firm, thereby ensuring that everyone's insurance costs more than it should.
And breath.... |

its all about the law of averages. if you get 1 in 100 that will pay for your costs, if you get 2 in 100 that will pay your wages, if you get 3 in 100 your in profit etc.etc. cold calling works or they would not do it.
when i had my computing business i used to put fliers threw doors when i had slack time but only in the area i had just had a client. i used to get a fair return and it was about 2 in 100 fliers that i used to get work from. as time went on word of mouth took over and things started to really move. |

Yeah, I just wandered if the minute amount of detail I gave them (that I am not covered, have no dependants or outgoings) would be enough given they also know my name and phone number.
