Hello everyone, I bought a SV650s, full black fairing (the fastest colour) with a red seat (the comfiest colour) yesterday for my 21st birthday which is next month so I thought I'd join the forum!
I passed my A2 licence in the summer so I'm restricted to 47bph, I got quoted £214+vat from the dealer yesterday for a restrictor which I thought was a little steep... Has anyone got any idea what is a reasonable price to pay for one or where the best place to get one is? I know there's a few different types but I'm just after the cheapest if I'm being honest, I'm not the professional type who would really notice the top end performance changing plus I'm a student so could do with saving a few bob! Thanks, BadFootBill |

If it's for a pointy there are plenty of 33bhp restricted ECU's about that usually change hands for less than £50. If you want 47bhp there are kits on ebay but will involve a bit of work to fit.

Yeah it's an 08 pointy and I need it fitted as well.
Will I be better off getting a 33bph than a 47 one? Do I need a certificate to say it's less than 47 from a garage? |

Kickstart Engineering do the kit (Throttle stop) its around £50 on ebay, assuming you have bought a post 2007 pointy, this is the link - Link
£214 is a joke. There is still a question around whether a dealer has to fit it, whether the certificate is worth the paper its written on etc. Thats upto you to decide mate, I personally fitted my own on my old bike but had the dealer fit the new one on my new bike as I needed to ride it away. For the record he didnt charge me to fit it. Welcome to the forum! |

to fit the ECU restrictor its a case of unplugging the full power one and plugging the restricted one in, simple 10min job.
the BHP restriction i think is a maximum so as far as i'm aware a 33bhp one will do. some insurance comps like to have proof. |

If a 33bhp one would do, I have a 33bhp ECU that would fit your bike. Feel free to PM me if you're interested.
