Default 6 Month insurance covers?

Hi Guys,

Did any one of ye ever heard of insurance cover other than annual?

I'm on my bike only in the Spring and Summer so was thinking that it would be cool if there was a half year insurance only.

All companies do annual which is pretty expensive if you're riding only for 30% of that time.

Any thoughts?

you will more than likely find that it wont be much cheaper.

i could be wrong but if you pay all the premium up front then you can cancel the policy and get a refund. if you pay by DD then your tied into a contract. as far as i know you wont accumulate your NCD with 6mth policys.

personally i just keep everything running tax/insurance/mot as you never know. like today its blooody glorious up here and if i had the time i would have been out on the bike.

I just tried a quote on my name for a full year.
450euros for my SV. I'm 22 years old and 1 year Full License

It's cheap probably because of the 1 year discount and 10% off from Car Insurance that I have with the company.

Not too bad. From 750euros to 450 in 1 year lol

I cancelled insurance 4 months into a policy once, got a total of £1 back after they take all their fees and whatnot.

You'd also not get a full year's no claims.

Remember the new laws mean you have to SORN your bike if it's not insured and even though you're not using it, it can still be stolen, may as well just pay for 12 months.

If the OP is paying his insurance in Euros SORN may not exist where he lives...

The other consideration is theft cover, which it would make sense to have all year and not just for 6 months. That plus a six month cover (if you can find one) may be more than an annual policy.
