I've searched the hell out of this and still don't have a definitive answer, lots of trails gone cold.
Situation: small oil leak from either clutch pushrod seal, or drive shaft seal (or both) not much but enough to make me want to take action. Question: can the pushrod seal simply be replaced without removing the pushrod? Apparently that would need removing from the opposite side and require a fair bit more work. I understand the drive shaft seal can be replaced from the outside without any dismantling other than sprocket/chain removal. SV650S K1 |

Thanks man.
Haynes simply says 'withdraw' it from the right as it has a nurled end which will damage the oil seal if taken out from the left. However, the exploded view shows two pushrods, number 15 being the one in question with 14 presumably being the one Haynes is on about? Does 15 butt up against 14? Looks like it does. Happy days. |

part 15 is the pushrod that goes through the oil seal, you can take it out if you take the lifter mech off.

Coincidentally I can confirm this from my first push rod removal experience yesterday. Was giving the bike a good clean down before changing my chain/sprockets and accidentally pulled the rod out. Whoops, but yes comes out v easily with added oil too! Makes me wonder if leaving the bike on the side stand without my lifting mech on means it will slide out on its own!!! oh dear...
While I'm here can anyone tell me what type of grease is best to use on the lifting mechanism bearings? The cylindrical (worm bearing?) Went a bit crazy with the degreaser down there and now need to regrease some bits! Grease confuses me there is so many different types. At the moment I only have the below, can anyone tell me what I should add to my small collection? Copper grease (spray) Red rubber (tub) White lithium (spray) |

I'll be using a standard brown automotive grease in a tub for that, you could use the red it's just quite expensive for that application but I'm sure it'll do a fine job. You'd want something reasonably thick I would think.
