Default Keybarrel Dust Cover Sticking - Any ideas?

The little metal flap that moves out of the way when you insert the key, isn't returning properly!

You can move it to come out at an angle:
/ or \
But it won't come out properly like __ on it's own.

If you fiddle with pins can pull it completely out, but won't return back when you next insert the key.

I have tried drowning it in WD40 and wiggling it to remove any grime, but without any luck, my only thought is that there may be a spring that has been knocked out of place by vibrations. However, I know nothing at all about the inside and have no idea if:
a) How to get into the top bit of the barrel
b) The flap even uses springs that could fall out!!

Any help would be much appreciated

The little metal disc with the keyhole in it is bent down a bit stopping the flap from moving freely. Very carefully using a flat blade screwdriver, bend up the centre of the disc at the side the flaps comes out from until it's flat/doesn't impede the flap anymore.

An enormous amount - but I'm working on it.

He is a bit scary alright.
Although to be fair, I reckon he secretly goes around the place tinkering with SVs, and making little notes about what he did in a little book, and then TA DAAA, whipping out an answer when the owner pipes up, and looking all cool.

Yes Sid. You know its the truth.

That's why my sv is in absolutely flawless nick, safely hidden away on the far side of the Atlantic.

Come on now. You married an Irish girl. At least some of the enormous amounts of her coolness has to rub off on you. :P
